According to the Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, “Nepal has shown a great enthusiasm in enhancing the connectivity of the border with China under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative”. On the day of return to Nepal from after five days visit of China, the Foreign Minister told that the government has sought assistance for developing the connectivity projects from China. He also added that both countries have agreed to identify and implement projects in construction of highways and railways.
The Foreign Minister also said that they want to deepen the cooperation with China in the field of trade, commerce, tourism, aviation, communication and people to people contacts, among others.
Introduced by China in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, aiming at building a trade and infrastructure network connecting countries along the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road.
