Manaslu Region
The Manaslu Region, located in the west-central part of Nepal, is a hidden gem for trekkers seeking off-the-beaten-track adventures. Nestled in the lap of Mt. Today, this region is a prime destination for eco-tourism, with locals relying heavily on trekking and expedition tourism for their livelihood. Originally a fully camping trek, the introduction of teahouses with modern facilities such as internet and telephone has made trekking here more affordable and accessible.
The local communities consider Mt. Manaslu a “Holy Spirit Mountain” and honor it as a spiritual deity. Along the trail, trekkers can enjoy magnificent views of Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Himchuli, Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, Naike Peak, Larke Peak, Kangaroo Himal, Cheo Himal, and Ratna Chuli. The route passes through dense forests of colorful rhododendrons and thick bamboo, with Buddhist prayer flags, mani walls, and chortens adorning the landscape. The predominantly Buddhist population practices non-violence, helping to preserve wildlife in the area.
