Mera Peak Climbing goes through the beauty of Hinku Valley taking you to the summit of Mera Peak.
Mera Peak is situated in the Sagarmatha Region, Mahalangur Range, with its altitude rising to 6,476 meters, (21,247ft). Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal. It contains three main summits: Mera North (6,476 meters), Mera Central (6,461 meters), and Mera South (6,065 meters) as well as a smaller “trekking summit”, visible as a distinct summit. It is a good mountain for trekkers who would like a straightforward introduction to mountaineering.
Mera Peak Climbing is followed by a short and exciting flight to the mountain airstrip of Lukla and after a continuous trek for days through the high and lovely valleys, you will get to the area of Mera.
Although physically very demanding on account of the altitude, the climb on Mera Peak is not technically difficult as ascending snow slopes rarely exceed 40 degrees. You don’t require much experience to ascend Mera Peak except for your physical fitness and willingness to do it.
If you are planning to Mera Peak Climbing in Nepal, you can use a direct domestic flight to Lukla, or in case you love trekking then you can walk on the Classic Everest Base Camp Trek trail from Jiri to Lukla. There are various methods to reach the Base Camp apart from the easy route and the normal route.
If you are willing to view the panoramic views of the different Himalayas like Kanchenjunga, and Makalu then the High Camp is the perfect spot to color your dreams. You will get endless opportunities to enjoy the white mountains. In addition, the Northern part of Mera Peak is termed as straightforward for climbing.
Mera Peak Climbing Route
Mera Peak Climbing goes through iconic Hinku Valley reaching the Base of Peak Mera. The trip starts from the Capital city, Kathmandu. We drive 135 Km northeast to Manthali, from where we board our onward flight to Lukla. After arriving at a small airstrip of Lukla, we trek to Chuthang.
From Chuthang we continue trekking to Thuli Kharka (3900m) via Zatrwala Pass. From Thuli Kharka we continue our Trek to Mera Peak via Kothe, Thangnak(4326m), Khare (5,054m), and to Mera La (5,300m). From Khare, you will get an astonishing view of a soon-to-be-climbed Mera Peak.
Accommodation on Mera Peak Climbing
We will accommodate in comfortable mountain lodges before and after Mera Peak Climb while trekking. The lodges are local family owned, clean, and comfortable. We will use a twin bedded room with basic yet clean amenities. We recommend bringing your own four-season sleeping bag (can be hired in Kathmandu). The lodges are generally equipped with gas-powered hot shower and most of them uses flush system toilets.
At Mera Peak Base Camp and High Camp, we will use high-quality mountain tents for accommodation. Generally, a two-person sleeping tent is used for all our climbing and expedition. You must bring a four-season sleeping bag and a best-quality sleeping mat.
We will provide good quality food while trekking and climbing Mera Peak. Normally Nepalese, Sherpa and basic Western recipes are available. Nepalese Dal Bhat and Momos are widely served and are the best choice for your climb to Mera Peak.
