The trek usually starts from Sundarijal, which is located about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. From there, the trek follows a trail through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, and passes through several traditional Sherpa villages like Chisapani, Kutumsang, Thadepati, and Tarke Gyang.

The typical nine-day itinerary is round, with the first day’s section being repeated at the end of the walk.
